The dates and times for early voting for the special election for Ward 3, Justice of the Peace will be held at the Caddo Parish Registrar of Voters office, 525 Marshall, Suite 103 in downtown Shreveport. The only voters who will be eligible to vote in the election are voters in ward 3 OUTSIDE of Shreveport.

SHREVEPORT, LA (By: Tom Pace, Executive Editor, Talk of the Town) BREAKING: CADDO VOTER REGISTRATION UPDATE 2pm 11-2-09 It was a very successful mobile voter registration drive for Caddo parish that just ended on October 30th, 2009.  

The just-ended registration efforts at the various Shreve Memorial branch libraries prompted Caddo Registrar of Voters Ernie Roberson to remark, “I’m pleased with the amount of changes, new registrations and information conveyed to the public during the 50-stop months-long effort.”
 
Roberson continued, “Voter registration interest is usually cyclical based on the proximity to a major election. Since no major elections were held in 2009, we did not have a major influx of new registrations. However, we did supply a lot of mail in applications for folks to either register or change info on their current registration.”

“Plus we did get a lot of questions about party primaries, elections schedules for next year and address inquiries. All of that pays off in educational value,” Roberson stated.
 
Roberson also was pleased that many voters commented on www.caddovoter.org and are becoming aware of the website for the Registrar’s office. “It is helping us convey more info 24/7 and thats what we want from our website, ” Roberson added.
 
The Registrar’s office is planning another major registration blitz next spring prior to the 2010 elections for U.S. Senator, Congress, Shreveport mayor and City Council with the Caddo School Board. Most of the sites will be Shreve Memorial library locations with other sites being reviewed, too.
 
“Hopefully by next year we will have some more interest and other community organizations helping us with voter registration activities, ” Roberson commented. Such community groups have been succesful in previous years.  Roberson encouraged any groups wanting to work in that realm as non-paid volunteers to contact his office for more info at 226-6891.

SHREVEPORT, LA (By: Tom Pace, Executive Editor, Talk of the Town) Mobile Voter Registration begins at 1pm on Monday, July 6th, 2009. With the 2010 federal elections coming up next year, local residents need to be registered to cast their ballots.

Ernie Roberson, Caddo Registrar of Voters, announced today that the his office will begin its 2009 schedule of mobile voter registration throughout Caddo Parish this week.

The sites will all be located at Shreve Memorial Library locations and citizens can call 226-6891 for a location near them in the upcoming weeks.

“This annual drive will encourage citizens to register to vote or update their address or change their party affiliation if they are registered in Caddo,” said Roberson.

Roberson added, “Using Shreve Memorial Library locations will allow us to be accessible to all neighborhoods in the parish,” adding that party primaries next year will mean some voters may wish to consider their party affiliation.

“It was confusing to a lot of voters last year and the federal elections in 2010 will include party primaries. I encourage voters to call the Registrar’s office at 226-6891 or use the Secretary of State’s website to check their address and party info.

We can mail the change form to the voter or they can come by our mobile registration site and pick it up, ” Roberson added. The website address is www.sos.louisiana.gov.

Voters should bring identification such as a driver’s license, governmental i.d. or military i.d. with their Caddo Parish address on it.
