MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTERS

The Federal voting Assistance Program (FVAP) website provides information to U. S. citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee voting Act (UOCAVA). This includes:

• U. S. citizens who are members of the Uniformed Services and their family member.
• U. S. citizens who reside outside the United States.

Uniformed Services are defined as:

• U. S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard),
• Merchant marine,
• Commissioned corps of the Public Health Service,
• National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

PROVISIONAL VOTING.....

Provisional voting in Louisiana applies only to federal races for President, U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress. It provides a mechanism that allows voters whose name does not appear on the poll list a way to vote for the federal offices in primary and general elections.

The provisional voter in most instances may not be eligible to vote on local issues. The provisional ballot will be part of the results determination by the parish Board of Election Supervisors and voters are furnished with a toll free number to call to find out iof their ballot was counted by the board.
